We are thrilled that ANNIKA WAGENHOFF will be coming to the MIX to teach us West African Dancing.
Annika grew up in Germany and moved to Dunedin in 2007 to study where she discovered and fell in love with traditional and contemporary West African dance. In 2015, she joined Āwherika, a high-energy West African drum and dance performance group with members from all over New Zealand, and has performed and taught extensively since then.
What she loves the most about teaching, performing, and collaborating with drummers is the connecting with people, creating community and sharing the joy and positive energy that dancing and drumming is bringing into our lives. BRING IT ON!!
The vibrant Amanda Dennis has recently devised an innovative new program called THINKING AND LEARNING BY DRAWING. We are very lucky to have her share it with us at the MIX. This workshop is one for all ages.
She explains that by understanding your cognitive processes you will be able to draw what you see and become a self-motivated and creative thinker. Teaching in this way can really help anyone who has any sort of learning block. She can help you focus the relevant theme and content that interests you, and help you find your own creative voice. Magic!

If you have ever wanted to try QI GONG, you will get a chance to experience a lesson with RICK LOOS at the festival.
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese form of medi tation in motion which relaxes and energises the mind and body. Through gentle movement, calm mental focus and deep diaphragmatic breathing you soon feel more relaxed and energised.
Rick is a busy man at the festival so don’t miss the class and watch out for him in other places!
We are thrilled that the multi-talented RICK LOOS will be joining us in the HEALING SPACE at the festival.
Rick uses a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) to help the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being. Acupuncture also eases pain and reduces inflammation.
