We are stoked to have Kyle Simpson present two separate workshops at the MIX. He will introduce people to the Wu Style Tai Chi Short form. You will explore how Toaist Principles and Tai Chi Movements can be implemented for the purpose of creating ‘flow states’ during moments of ‘work’ and ‘play’ during everyday life. The first workshop will explore basic movements and principles, the second a crash course in the Wu Style Family Short Form.

We are thrilled that ANNIKA WAGENHOFF will be coming to the MIX to teach us West African Dancing. Annika grew up in Germany and moved to Dunedin in 2007 to study where she discovered and fell in love with traditional and contemporary West African dance. In 2015, she joined Āwherika, a high-energy West African drum and dance performance group with members from all over New Zealand, and has performed and taught extensively since then. What she loves the most about teaching, performing, and collaborating with drummers is the connecting with people, creating community and sharing the joy and positive energy that dancing and drumming is bringing into our lives. BRING IT ON!! The vibrant Amanda Dennis has recently devised an innovative new program called THINKING AND LEARNING BY DRAWING. We are very lucky to have her share it with us at the MIX. This workshop is one for all ages. She explains that by understanding your cognitive processes you will be able to draw what you see and become a self-motivated and creative thinker. Teaching in this way can really help anyone who has any sort of learning block. She can help you focus the relevant theme and content that interests you, and help you find your own creative voice. It’s with much excitement we can announce that the lovely VANDA is coming to the MIX to run her Street Dance Workshops. "'Grounded Heart' Shamanic Dance Workshop. - a Funky Deep dance journey. I offer, with a mix of live and Dj'ed music, a guided journey for people to drop really deeply into themselves through music - to Ground people, take them back to their truest selves, open their hearts, and dance out their demons, and then out into their JOY, & then finally to a deep still meditational finish. There is a strong Shamanic element to the class. its like a mix of 5 rhythms and Shamanic dance. Very potent!"

"Kia Ora.
I have been learning the weaving of harakeke, traditional flax weaving, since 2008. I did a course for three years at Waitati, with the Whanau Arohanui, for three years. I like to share what I have been learning.
Weaving encapsulates nature, culture, language, family, community.
Thank you."

My vision for ConSensual ConTact ConTent is to facilitate a safe space to invite deeper awareness from which to explore connections including Conscious Touch and Conscious Cuddling. I offer activities for people to get to know themselves better and more profoundly, this includes boundary playshops and on into contact, touch and possibly cuddling, a very pleasurable, relaxing and healing activity.
I was inspired by the web site for ‘The Mix’ to do something different, and excited by the opportunity to create a new space in a new festival. I have joined with 2 friends, my long term Kiwi friend/sister Devon Millar and her new partner Kerry Cooper, who are experienced festival people, to co-create. We are in the process of constructing our first Bamboo Roundhouse and wish to use this as the basis of out Themed Camp, ConSensual ConTact ConTent.
I'm a very experienced facilitator of workshops & ceremonies and an awesome space holder. I am regularly part of Luminate, Evolve and Convergence Festivals when I am in NZ and have taught in many countries incl festivals in the UK and Bali. My main base in the world is Koh Phangan in Thailand where I am a long term active part of a Conscious Community. The collective name for my offerings is “Ecstatic Presence” and I offer much under this umbrella.
We will post up opening times and invite people to come and join us in a clean and sober condition, bringing something comfortable to lay on and a heart ready to explore ♥

And Geometric Drawing Workshops
We are excited to announce that super talented Alice Maxwell will be teaching workshops in contact staff and dragon staff, as well as the all-levels workshop in geometric drawing, including mandalas, tessellation/tiling and fractals!!! Alice is a beautiful blend of graceful and techy when she spins, with over 5 years of experience in fire performing at festivals and shows. She is also an amazing artist who can make the seemingly mind-boggling mandala drawing more accessible and fun for you to try.

We are so happy to have Sugra coming to the MIX
Everyone knows Sugra! He’s been delighting festival folks with his antics and amazing skills for decades now. A South Island Festival would be incomplete without him.
For those new to the festival scene in NZ Sugra is a Circus Performer. He will be teaching Juggling and how to ride a Unicycle throughout the festival. He brings his infinite patience and unique way of teaching.
If you are looking to learn some new skills or improve on what you already know, come to the MIX and learn with one of the greats.
We are excited to announce that Jeff from Backyard Honey Bees, known locally as ‘the bee man,’ will be coming and sharing his wealth of experience in all things bee related.
In the first workshop you will have the opportunity to discover what is inside a working hive. Jeff will be talking about the different products that the bees make and there will be a chance to ask him questions. This will be an evening workshop so as to reduce disturbance to the hive as much as possible.
The next day Jeff will be making a hive. This workshop is an exceptional opportunity to learn the skills required to make your own bee hive. Skills taught will include learning about wood wear, foundation wax, top bar hives, using a jig and wiring up the frames. Don’t forget to ask Jeff all your questions, as his knowledge base is legendary.
Mix is very pleased to welcome the Dunedin Acroyoga community to the Mix. They will be teaching young and old alike.. jamming and doing demonstrations.... COME PLAY!
