We are seriously delighted to announce that we have NEGIN DASTGHIEB in our HEALING HUB this year offering one2one ART IS THERAPY sessions.

Those of you at the last MIX will remember her as our barista extraordinaire! Negin is currently in her final year of studying Masters of Arts Therapy at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design and has already facilitated many one2one sessions as part of her course learning and continued assessment. Through working as an artist for the past five years she has a strong knowledge and respect for art and sees us all as creative beings.

Arts therapy utilises the creative process to access inner realms and assist in revealing subconscious messages. Bringing the internal into the external allows for deeper clarity, understandings and offers a potential for transformation. Negin works by using internal imagery to assist with shifting emotional energies. Arts Therapy is suitable for all ages.

Negin is also interested in transpersonal psychology and shamanic practices.

MIX festival is excited to announce that the talented ANGELIKA BARNES will be presenting her unique workshop YOUR AUDIBLE BUSINESS CARD
Ever wondered why too few people are interested in what you have to offer? Many of us offering massage, healing, or other services of a spiritual and healing nature find it challenging to find our 'sales' voice. Using compelling phrases that capture your authenticity and the essence of your service, are crucial to drawing in new clients.
I love bringing out the best in people and I am passionate about communication. I hail from a solid background in sales and communication in the corporate world of finance, coaching teams and individuals. Alongside that sits my second passion, the performing arts. This adds experience in non-verbal communication including the use of body language and voice quality.

My workshops are highly interactive because I strongly believe in experiential learning. Join me and discover your unique voice, so that more clients can benefit from your services.

We are proud to announce that ARI FREEMAN will be presenting his epic workshop MAGIC in the MODERN WORLD at the MIX this year.
Ari Freeman is the Deputy Wizard of Christchurch under the Arch Wizard of New Zealand and the world’s only government appointed official national Wizard. Ari has been the right-hand man to the Arch Wizard for over 4 years. Since this time Ari has delved into many forms of public magic, appearing at multiple events and putting on his own Wizard balls with his psychedelic funk band Rhomboid
This workshop is based on Ari’s writings and will explore how magic still has a huge role in everyday life. Together you will discover how this can reconnect us to the past, and grant hope for the future. Magic can offer hope and solutions to the downtrodden modern soul, reinvigorate communities, protect us from negative influences, offer tools to improve one’s prospects, improve mental health, and help us build a brighter future for the world.
All are welcome, skeptics, challengers, believers, magicians, witches, scientists…come along and hear a fresh and hopeful perspective.

Theater of Liberation

We are excited to confirm that JEN HYDE is presenting her workshop THEATER of LIBERATION at this year's MIX Festival.
The Theater of Liberation is a community-based arts program that uses theater as a tool for change. This theater is not meant just for actors, it's open for all people. Especially for those who want to strengthen their ties to the community, who like to play, and who want to engage more fully in their lives. The nuts and bolts are that we're going to be playing games together!
The workshop is based on Theater of the Oppressed, by Augusto Boal, who based his work on Paolo Freire. Freire said that we learn in the way in which we are educated rather than just from being given content. We explore power and relationships through games and inquiry.
Jen has followed her love of movement and play through Central and South America, back and forth across the States, to Europe and New Zealand. Her focus is on aerial silks, clowning, acro-yoga, herbalism, and dance. She builds big puppets, leads groups across massive mountain ranges, makes clothing, and is easily distracted by cute puppies.

How lucky are we to have the multi-talented KAITLIN EMIG presenting not one but four workshops at the MIX this year!

Combining her guiding experience in hiking as well as in yoga and meditation Kaitlin uses the natural world to inspire and ground us. As an outdoor educator and avid adventurer, Kaitlin uses movement as a means for meditation. She brings a fun, heartwarming and compassionate attitude to each movement-based lesson. Kaitlin has yoga and meditation teacher certification as well as extensive experience in guiding outdoor groups. Since living in New Zealand she has trained and taught Acroyoga with the WanaAcro Crew (Wanaka) and completed a J&C AcroMasterMind training.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS OM
In her first workshop WHERE THE WILD THINGS OM (for children) the class will begin with some animal songs and dances then explore different animal themed poses in connection to some of the songs. Continuing with some games using the animal poses to connect learning to movements. Finally, the children will learn some breathing exercises to help calm down and find stillness in their body.

YOGA HIKING
Her second offering (all ages) is YOGA HIKING a chance to escape from the festival through a guided hiking experience and a pause for a break with a yoga flow. Aimed at providing an opportunity for trust, self-exploration, relaxation, and oneness to the natural environment for all participants. An all levels vinyasa flow will take place on a clear space with a stunning view to help us tune into our own breath and all that surrounds us. The class will conclude with a guided nature-themed meditation to recharge for the rest of the festival.
Workshops 2 and 3 will be posted next week.
