The Values

MIX Festival is all about spreading good values from the beginning right through to the end, hoping that these values will be absorbed and spread around the globe, like ripples in a pond.

Community
The philosophy behind this Festival is to bring the beautiful, intimate community environment that is experienced at a small scale festival and extend it outwards to the greater public.
To achieve this, the principles of a healthy, happy community are brought forward and co-created by all involved, which includes you...

“Without the human community, one
single human being cannot survive.”

- Dalai Lama-

The Core Values

Respecting

Showing respect towards one another and the beautiful places in which we come together is a significant puzzle piece in forming the foundation of a happy, healthy community!

Unity through diversity is the Mix motto and to achieve this we need to not just tolerate or accept but celebrate the whole, vibrant spectrum of humanity.

Mindfulness and listening are the key to making the most of all our interactions with each other, whether it be on the dance floor, in the jam space or meeting new friends!

The same goes
for all life forms who share our precious planet, which is why we ask you to Leave No Trace, which means taking away everything you brought in.  Disposable cutlery, plates and cups will not be available at the festival, so please be resourceful and bring your own dishes.  Coconut shells make fantastic bowls and you could even carve a spoon from driftwood.  Why not put a carabina on your belt to hang a cup on so you always have it handy?  Metal ones are hard to break and make a fun clinkety sound when you dance!

“We are sun and moon, dear friend; we are sea and land. It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honour him for what he is: each the other's opposite and complement.”
― Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

Too Easy!

Connecting

Since ancient times, our ancestors in all their far flung origins would sit around fires, share food, make music and dance on the Earth, beneath the open sky.  These are some of the oldest and most powerful ways to connect meaningfully with each other and with nature.

“Wonderous humans being together” is, in a snail shell, what The Mix festival is all about!  To give enthusiasts of all shapes and shades a common ground to celebrate, collaborate, co- create and learn together, coming out of it all with new networks of creative friends to move forward with our endeavours.

The connections we form tend to be more genuine and from the heart when not intoxicated, and as genuine connections are part of the core of our community values, we ask that this be an alcohol free event.

Sharing

“You give but little when you give of your possessions.  It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” ~Kahlil Gibran

So much of the beauty of a truly transformational festival is in the incredible display of diverse skills, ideas, experiences and creativity being shared amongst the people in a nurturing environment, sparking inspiration within ourselves to evolve and grow in both our own personal legends and the grander collective legend of human Kind.

{Some say the word “human” derives from the word hue, as in colour, literally meaning the “colour of man”* Man, meaning a being with bipedal posture, abstract reasoning and imagination** or simply put: A being on two legs}

Let’s celebrate the many colours of man!

There will be a huge focus on the sharing of knowledge and skills throughout the festival, enabling people to share their expertise, whether it be with instruments, sound engineering, paint brushes, sculpting, flow arts, building with renewable and recycled materials, designing permaculture gardens, organising mass movements for social and environmental change or anything we can collectively imagine!  If we listen, we can learn something from each and every human being we will ever have the opportunity to cross paths with.
